Apple’s iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models have received notable price reductions on Amazon India this week, offering buyers an opportunity to save on the company’s latest smartphones.
The 128GB iPhone 16, originally priced at Rs 79,900, is now available for Rs 72,400 after a 9 per cent markdown. The iPhone 16 Plus, which launched at Rs 89,900 for the same storage capacity, has been reduced to Rs 83,500. Selected bank credit cards provide an additional instant rebate of Rs 4,000, bringing the effective prices to Rs 68,400 and Rs 79,500, respectively.
Both devices run on Apple’s A18 processor and ship with iOS 18. The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the Plus model offers a 6.7-inch screen of the same type. Camera systems on each unit include a 48-megapixel wide sensor paired with a 12-megapixel ultrawide module and a 12-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and selfies.
Battery capacities differ by model: the standard iPhone 16 houses a 3,561 mAh cell, and the larger Plus variant contains a 4,674 mAh unit. Both support MagSafe wireless charging at up to 25W and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 15W.
Analysts say the current deals place the iPhone 16 series within reach of value-conscious buyers seeking Apple’s intelligence features at a lower entry point. The phones are expected to remain in Apple’s lineup through the end of the year.
Consumers weighing a purchase now against waiting for the next-generation models should consider expected upgrades in the iPhone 17 series, including a faster processor, refined camera sensors, and increased battery capacity. Those seeking immediate savings and a mature hardware platform may opt to buy the discounted iPhone 16 or 16 Plus, while enthusiasts awaiting enhanced performance and features may choose to delay until the iPhone 17 launch, anticipated in September 2025.
